Why Choose Chaiya

Work That Respects
Your Watch

We handle a small number of watches at a time and give each the attention it needs. Here is what that looks like in practice.

At a Glance

What You Can Expect

These are the things that make a difference to people who bring their watches to us.

Honest Assessment First

We look at the watch and talk with you before any work begins. Our recommendation is based on what the watch actually needs, not on upselling a more comprehensive service.

Realistic Timelines, Shared Upfront

We give an honest time estimate before you leave the watch with us. If anything changes during the work, we contact you before continuing.

Proper Workshop Technique

Movements are ultrasonically cleaned and lubricated with oils correct for each function. Gaskets are renewed. Timing is regulated across positions on a machine.

Work Documented for Restoration

For restoration work, we photograph and record findings throughout. You receive a written summary when the watch is returned.

Follow-Up After Collection

We're available for questions in the weeks after collection. If something feels off, come back — we'll take a look without hesitation.

Small Workshop, Direct Contact

We handle a limited number of pieces at any time. The person who assesses your watch is usually the person who works on it — no handoffs to unknown technicians.

Workshop Expertise

Mechanical Focus

Chaiya works exclusively on mechanical movements — hand-wound and automatic calibres. This is not a shop that also sells batteries, strap bands, or fashion accessories. The tools, knowledge, and working environment are dedicated to one thing.

  • Experienced with movements spanning more than a century of watchmaking
  • Familiar with complications including date, chronograph, and moon phase
  • Honest about the limits of what we can do — we say so if a movement is beyond practical repair

Equipment & Technique

Workshop Standard

We use an ultrasonic cleaning machine and timing equipment as standard — the same tools used in professional watchmaking. Lubricants are the appropriate grades for each application, and not a single general oil applied across all pivot points.

  • Ultrasonic cleaning removes old residue without mechanical stress
  • Timing machine regulation across multiple positions
  • Correct lubricants for each area of the movement

Communication

No Surprises

We speak with you at the start, and we contact you if anything changes during the work. The cost and timeline are agreed before we proceed. If we discover something unexpected once the movement is open, we stop and call — we don't continue and present a larger bill at collection.

  • Initial assessment discussed before commitment
  • Agreed cost — no additions without your approval
  • Available for questions after the watch is returned

Transparent Pricing

No Hidden Costs

Our service prices are published and discussed openly. There are no assessment fees for the initial conversation. If additional parts are needed, we source them and price them to you before fitting. The price you agree to is the price you pay.

  • Prices from ฿4,600 for a case polish to ฿14,400 for full restoration
  • Part costs agreed before sourcing
  • No charge for declining to proceed after assessment

How We Compare

Chaiya vs. Typical Alternatives

Not all watch repair is the same. Here's how an unhurried, dedicated workshop differs from a general repair counter.

Feature Chaiya Typical Counter Repair
Initial assessment conversation
Agreed price before starting work
Ultrasonic cleaning as standard
Correct lubricants per position
Contact if additional work found
Documentation for restoration work
Follow-up after collection

What Sets Us Apart

Distinctly Chaiya

Mechanical-Only Focus

We work only on mechanical movements. No quartz, no battery services. This focus means the workshop is equipped and arranged specifically for the task — not spread across multiple types of repair.

The "Time It Takes" Commitment

We publish our typical timelines openly and stand by them. If something takes longer, we tell you. We don't compress the work to turn pieces around faster than the job allows.

Vintage-Capable

Older movements need different handling. We're familiar with the calibres and sourcing considerations involved in older watches, and we discuss those specifics with you before committing to the work.

No-Obligation Assessment

You can bring a watch in for an assessment conversation without any obligation to proceed. We'll tell you what we observe, and what we'd recommend — then the decision is yours.
